The given table presents information about six countries’ subway systems, including the year they started working, the number of kilometres of route and passengers per years in million units.
Overall, while London is the oldest and longest underground railway system, modern systems such as Kyoto and Los Angeles are shorter and could not commute a large number of passengers.
In spite of its age from 1863, London has a 394-kilometre route, which is the longest subway systems and could pass 775 million passengers per year. However, being the newest, which was introduced to travelling in 2001, Los Angeles only serves 50 million commuters per year. In addition, Kyoto, which is the smallest system in capacity, is only 11 kilometres in route length and serves 45 million people.
In terms of Tokyo, although it has only 155 kilometres in the length of the route, the number of commuters per year of Tokyo reaches the highest point, which is 1927 million and many times as many as that of Kyoto. Similar to Tokyo, among European countries, Paris takes the most important role in travelling people whose the figure of 1191 million commuters per year with only 199 kilometres of route.
