The diagrams below show the stages of the erosion of the headland
Given is the diagram illustrating the process of the erosion of the headland. It is perceptible that there is a slow disappearance of the headland. It commences with the destruction of the rock below the headland and ends at retreating the headland and the stack and stump get destroyed slowly.
The process initiates when the rock underneath the headland which is the weakest area is eroded by a continuous wave. After multiple and constant beats, the ledge starts to crack open, the waves are getting bigger and bigger and so is the cliff. After a while, the cave is big enough and it appears to be an arch and the arch looks like a Durdle door in Dorset.
The waves continued to beat the base of the cliff until the whole roof stack collapsed and separated from the original ledge. After that, the headland retreated, the part that got collapsed was still eroded and it immersed slowly to the water. Eventually, the stack was destroyed, forming a stump.
