Overall, the figures of citizens aged over 65 in all three countries follow an upward trend throughout the period shown. Also, the rate of Germany’s population aged 65 and up is always the highest of the three various nations.
In 1980, senior residents in Germany accounted for 15% of the total population in Germany, compared with around 14% and 10% recorded in the share of that in the UK and Canada respectively. Over the following 20 years, the proportion of people in the age bracket in Canada and Germany followed a similar pattern, rising significantly by 10% each. In the meantime, the percentage of the population aged over 65 UK experienced a slight increase to 15%.
In the next 30 years, it is predicted that the figure for senior residents in Germany will increase to 25%. Meanwhile, the rate of elderly people in Canada and the UK is forecast to go up to about 22% and 18% respectively
