Overall, it is clear that while Japanese families spent the majority of money on other goods and services, Malaysian ones spent the highest amount of money on housing. In addition, both countries spent the least amount of money on the healthcare sector in 2010.
Taking a close look, families in Japan make most of their expenses on goods and services, at 29 percent, compared to 26 percent in Malaysia. Similarly, the percentage of expenditure on transport in Japan was exactly 20 percent, which doubled that in the country of Malaysia, which was only 10 percent. In this year, healthcare made up only 6 percent and 3 percent of the total spending in Japan and Malaysia respectively.
On the contrary, while Japanese households spent only 21 percent of their money on housing, this category made up the largest part in Malaysian household spending, which was 34 percent. In both countries, food came as the second highest spending category, which was 24 percent in Japan and 27 percent in Malaysia.
