Overall, it is clear that both the number of books at this library read by males and females increased over the period of 3 years, with the figure for males experiencing a more dramatic rise.
In 2011, men read around 3000 books in Burnaby Public Library and women read up to about 5000 books. By 2012, both quantities rose but at different rate, with the number of books that women read going up to approximately 8000 books, which was twice as high as men.
A similar pattern can be seen from 2012 to 2013 during which the number of books read by males rocketed by about 6000 books. At the same time, the figure for females slowly rose, until reaching its peak at 10000 books in 2013, which was equal to men’s read book numbers. On the contrary, by the end of the period, while the number of books read by men continue rocketing to a peak of 14000, that by women saw a drop back to 8000 books in 2014.
