The cane toad is a (1.8kg) large amphibian native to Central and South America. It was deliberately introduced to Australia with the expectation that it would protect the framer crops by eating harmful insects instead their their rapid population growth is dangerous from other animals.
Both the passage and the lecture discuss about the rapid increase of population cane toads in Australia. While the passage says that there are few ways to eliminate the cane toads which can cause the other native animals species harm the lecture disagrees as it won't be easy to do so.
First, the passage claims that the cane toad can be blocked or can be stopped by building a national fence. Which will stop them from moving in other parts of Australia. However, the lecture insist that it will be unsuccessful and will have unwanted damage as there are rivers and stream near by. And the young cane toad and their eggs can flow through the water ways to the other side. Also the need very few count to establish their population again.
Next, the passage asserts that collectively capturing and eliminating the toads with the help of volunteers will work. In contrast, the passage argues that it could have worked it they were careful and skilled. But the untrained volunteers might destroy the native species of frog or the endangered species of frogs as they cannot be differentiate when they are young toads.
Finally, the passage states that they can control the population by giving then a special disease causing virus. On the other hand the lecture points out that it could cause terrible consiquences as it affect their original habitat. As the researchers export the reptile as other species to other country. And it will decrease the native cane toad population which is vital part of ecosystem. And whole ecosystem will suffer.
