The chart reveals changes in the proportion of people going to the cinema once a month or more based on the four different age groups during a 20-year-period. Overall, all categories witnessed an upward trend despite some fluctuation over the time surveyed.
It can be seen that the rate of 15-to-24-year-old people visiting the cinema group always possessed the highest position. To be exact, the figure for this stayed well beyond the others, accounting for 15% in the first year and then reached a peak of approximately 52% in the last year after experiencing a significant fluctuation. By contrast, that for moviegoers who are over 35 years old possessed the lowest rate among all categories, increasing from roughly 3% in 1984 to a peak of over 10% in 2003.
There was a remarkable growth in the proportion of people aged 25-35 which its figure fluctuated noticeably before reaching the highest point at 30%. Regarding the rate of 25-35-year-old moviegoers, although possessing a higher figure during an 18-year-period, this percentage decreased to an equal low compared with the category of “25-35 age group”, at 30%.
