The charts below give information about educational levels in Glasgow, a city in Scotland in 2010. Summarise info and compare where relevant
The bar chart presents the distributions of academic status by age in Glasgow in 2010, whereas the pie chart compares the same components by gender.
Overall, the young generation has relatively higher percentages of academic qualifications. It is also clear that the percentages of all three categories are similar between men and women.
By age ranges, the group of 16 – 24 year-olds had the largest proportion of people with school certificate, taking up roughly two third of this group. On the other hand, only 9% of the 16-24 group owned no qualifications. Additionally, over a half of young adults from 25 to 34 acquired a university degree, making it the most bachelor’s degree earner group. The proportions of people with school certificates and university degrees gradually dropped the older the people were, which was in contrast with the no qualifications status. The oldest age group of 75 and above witnessed a hefty proportion of 72% of citizens with no qualifications and a mere 9% of graduates.
By genders, 39% of males and the same figure of females obtained school certificates by 2010. As for males, there were 32% who held bachelor’s degree and people with no certificates accounted for 29%, while it was the opposite case for females.
