Tourists to England who visited four different attractions in Brighton
The chart illustrates the visitors to England who came to four distint sites between 1980 and 2010.
In general, the proportion of tourists who visited the Pier and the Pavilion increased over the 30-year period, while the proportion visiting the Art Gallery and the Festival decreased.
In 1980, the number of visitors coming to the Pavilion was over 25%. The trend continued until it reached a peak of almost 50% by 1995 and started falling from there to 2010, when it had approximately 30%. The growth was also recorded at the Pier, which attracted about 10% of all tourists in 1980. This site underwent fluctuation until it peaked at approximately 20% by 2010.
The Art Gallery and the Festival both saw a reduction in the number of visitors during the period depicted. In 1980, almost 20% of all tourists came to the Art Gallery. The growth on this site hit its highest of nearly 38% in 1985, and then it began to drop until 2010, when it was at under 10%. Approximately 30% of all tourists came to the Festival in 1980, and the trend still remained until it declined to nearly 28% by 2010, respectively.
