The table shows the number of international tourist arrivals (in thousands) in various
countries in 2009 and 2010, together with the percentage change in these numbers.
The table illustrates how many international tourists arrived in different countries and the proportion change in these numbers between 2009 and 2010.
In general, France was the most favorite place for tourists but there was no change in the number of foreign tourists who traveled here while the highest percentage increase was in Germany.
In 2009 and 2010, the number of people who visited France was 76 thousand, compared with the figure for the USA was 66 thousand in 2009, rising to 67
thousand in 2010. This number was significantly higher than tourist arrivals in Spain and the UK. Both of these countries received 55 thousand international visitors by 2009 and experienced a slight increase to 56 and 57 thousand respectively in the following year.
There was also a growth in the number of foreign tourists traveling to the remaining countries except for Hong Kong. To be more specific, by 2009, there were 44 thousand people who visited Italy, rising to 45 thousand in the next year. Meanwhile, the numbers were rather lower, international tourists arrivals in Turkey, China, and Germany witnessed a considerable increase over this period. By contrast, the figure for Hong Kong declined from 10 to 9 thousand
between 2 years.
All these countries experienced sustainable growth over the period except for France, where there was no change, and Hong Kong where the figure decreased 11% between 2 years.
