Cure of Malaria
Both the reading passing and lecture discusses about the possible solutions for elimination of the notorious malaria disease. Whilst the author suggests that, there are three reasonable strategies to carry out the particular task, the speaker challenges the propositions made by author. In his opinion, none of the methods will be efficacious for several reasons which will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
The author, in the reading, begins by mentioning that the treatment can be carried out effectively by evaluating the strain types of malaria ( as different countries have different strain types) with the medicine for each of the types; however, the lecturer refutes the claim, made by author. He argues that there are not medicines or drugs that cure malaria, rather it is use for treatment of the malaria. Futher, he asserts some strain of the malaria are strongly resistant to the particular drugs showing no any effect to them. Therefore, it completely falsifies the authors claim.
The writer further asserts that two methods: sparying chemical and usgae of the fish can be effective to kill the mosquitoes, who transfer parasite to humans, in different stages. The speaker is at odds with the authors position. He maintains that it will be impropbale to reach the widespread areas of the mosquitos either through spraying chemical or usage of fishes: they are highly capable of flying. Thus, only few mosquitoes will be destroy which will certainly not solve the problem.
The reading article, finally, proposes the application of sterile insects-- insects made infertile made by the imposing low-level gamma rays, as the possible solution measures. It inhibits the female to hatch the eggs ultimately reducing the population of mosquito. As opposed to the articles opinion, the lecturer argues that it is seen the female mosquitoes are highly reluctant to mate with the sterilized male, for unknown reasons. Thus, he adds that employing sterlized insects will not have efficacious output as the females with look after the unsterlized male for mating and hatching occurs giving birth to number of mosquitoes.
To summarize, the writer and speaker holds the opposite views on the possible mesures for harmful malaria disease which will be difficult for them on finding common ground.
