The table gives information about consumer spending in three major categories in five different countries in 2002.
Clearly, the most frequently purchased products in all five nations were food, drinks and tobacco, whereas people spent the least on the clothing/wear and the leisure/education.
According to the table, Turkish people paid the most for food/drinks/tobacco, which made up for roughly 34% of the total. The percentage of consumer expenditure in the same category in Ireland ranked second, at almost 28,91%. The Spanish also spent about 18,80% of the total consumer expenditure on basic items such as food, drink and tobacco.
It can be seen that Italy was the country where the proportion of spending on the clothing and wear was the highest, at about 9%, while the lowest was seen in Sweden, at about 5,4%. On the other hand, Turkey had a slight percentage of consumer expenditure in the leisure/education (approximately 4.35%).
