The graph below shows the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Given is the line graph illustrating the amounts of CO2 emitted by each person in four countries, namely the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal over a period 40 years, starting in 1967.
It is conspicuous that each Swedish or UK person released less CO2 over the period researched while the opposite was true for CO2 emissions in Italy and Portugal showed a rise. Furthermore, of all the nations, citizens in the UK were responsible for the largest amount of CO2 released all the time.
Take the first-year data, around 11 tonnes of CO2 was produced by a UK citizen, followed by 9 tonnes in Sweden. In the interim, each Italian discharged over 4 tonnes which was approximately threefold higher than that of a Portuguese.
From that period onwards, the average quantity of CO2 released in the UK shrank gradually to under 9 tonnes while the figure for Sweden, after a 1-tonne climb in the first decade then went slump moderately to well under 6 tonnes in 2007. In contrast, more CO2 was produced by each person in Italy whose figure surged to roughly 8 tonnes in 2007, compared with an equally significant soar to roughly 6 tonnes in Portugal.
