The pie charts show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000
The four pie charts give information about the amount of electricity generated using five different sources of fuel in Australia and France between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, it can be seen that coal is the most common resource in Australia, while nuclear power was the main source in France. The total electricity production in both countries increased over that period.
In 1980, half the amount of coal was produced in Australia more than in France, while twice as much oil French spent as Australians on generating electricity. France consumed more nuclear power than Australia, at 25 units and 20 units respectively. Hydropower was used to produce electricity in France more than in Australia.
After twenty years, coal accounted for one-fourth of the total energy used to produce electricity in Australia on the chart. Natural gas, hydropower in France, and oil, natural gas in Australia had the same pattern, at only 2%. Australians did not exploit nuclear power, but it was the highest unit on France's chart. 36% was the amount of hydropower in Australia in 2000.
