The line graph gives information on how much carbon dioxide (Co2) for per head was emitted in four European countries in the period of 40 years starting from 1967.
Overall, during 4 decades, two of the listed countries, namely the UK and Sweden declined considerably in their amount of CO2 emissions per person while that of the remaining countries only experienced upward trends.
Looking at the graph in more details, it can be seen that despite the noticeable decreases, the UK had always been the highest in its amount of CO2 emitted. It was at around 11 metric tonnes in 1967 which slowly yet constantly went dawn to become around 9 metric tonnes at the end. Meanwhile, Sweden, the second highest, increased from around 9 MT to reach its peak over 10 MT in the first decade. However, the figure for this country changed for the next 30 years. It declined and had almost halved by the end of the period shown.
The other two countries, however, had the exact opposite trends. Italy with more than 4MT of CO2 emissions in 1967 went up by 2 MT in the first 10 years. The next two decades saw slow yet constant growth to just below 8 MT. This figure remained the maximum for Italy as there
