The two bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian males and females employed in three age groups: teenagers, adults, and elders in 1984,2001, and 2014.
Overall, the number of Australian teenage men who were employed decreased, the number of adult employees remained the same, and the number of elders increased over 30 years. In the other genders, while the figure for teenagers diminished slightly, the percentage of adults and elders rose gradually from 1984 to 2014.
Initially, 70% of teenage men in Australia were employed in 1984, greater than 10% of the figure for women in the same year. Both these figures for the two genders endured the same in 2001. However, in 2014, while the percentage of 15-19 years old men employed in Australia declined to 50%, the figure for 15-19 years old women decreased slightly to 59%, surpassing the teenage men who were employed at the same time.
In the group of 35-44 age, the proportion of employed teenage men started at nearly 100% in 1984, and this figure continued the same in 2001 and 2014. The figure for teenage women began lower than 40% of the men, then developed and reached approximately 80% over 30 years, lower than 20% than the figure of men. In the elder group, nearly 50% of men were employed in that group and the figure for women was less than five times, just only 10%. Both these figures rose gradually to 60% and 50% over 30 years, respectively. Finally, the proportion of men and women who were employed in the group of 35-44 in Australia was higher than the figure in two other age groups, except in 1984 the teenage women was higher only 1% than the adult.
