The chart below shows the total numbers of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories from 1995 to 2002.

The bar chart gives information about the time spent by British people on three particular types of telephone calls between 1995 and 2002.
In general, the local fixed line was the most common means of communication. Both national and international fixed lines and mobiles had an upward trend, while local fixed lines fell back on the half of the period.
At the beginning of the period, local fixed-line calls were the highest and two times as much as the total number of minutes of national and international fixed-line calls. People spent the least time making phone calls through mobiles, at nearly 5 billion minutes in 1995. The local -fixed lines grew gradually before hitting its peak, at 90 billion minutes. In contrast, there was a slow rise in the time spent making mobile calls, from over 5 to 15 billion minutes.
After peaking, the local fixed call has a nearly 20 billion minutes reduction of making phone calls. Mobile calls were a particularly noticeable rise between 1999 and 2002, during which time the use of mobile phones tripled. The growth slowed over the last two years was national and international line fixed
