As the digital age continues to advance, it is clear that digital books and newspapers will play a prominent role in the future of reading. However, I do not believe that printed materials will disappear completely, despite the fact that they may be replaced by digital versions. There are several reasons why I hold this view.
First and foremost, the trend of digitalization is likely to continue to grow and dominate the reading world. Digital materials are easily stored online and are more accessible to readers, especially with the development of hand-held devices such as iPads. Even individuals with visual impairments can access digital materials through text-to-speech software.
Additionally, digital versions of rare books and documents can be accessed from libraries and museums, allowing more people to read them. While it is currently not possible to physically handle or take notes on books exhibited in museums, digital versions can be accessed and annotated on hand-held devices. This advantage may make digital reading more appealing to some readers compared to traditional, untouchable books.
Finally, I believe that printed materials will not completely fade into history. Some people may prefer to read on paper rather than screens, and paper books have been found to be easier on the eyes for long periods of reading.
In conclusion, while digital materials will likely be the primary source of reading in the future, this does not mean that printed materials will disappear entirely.
