The line graph illustrates the percentage of people who have gone
through adolescence usually do in their free time in United States from
1980 to 2010.
What stands out from the graph is that almost the trends of
things that people spend time on increases in the early years except for
going to the theatre. Until the last year, hiking is the thing that took the
highest position compared to the rest of the things.
Looking at the graph for more details, it can be seen that the rates
of older adults who watch tv in their free time peaked at 60% in the
1980s, then it continued to rise to 70% over the next 20 year. However,
the number of people watching TV dropped slightly to about 65% in
2010s. There was a grow considerable to more than 10% in the number
of adults surfing the Internet in the 20 years first, which was followed
by a huge upsurge to 50% in 2010s. In addition, a rapid bounce from
20% to the highest point was witnessed in the ratio of people who
usually go hiking between 1980s and 2010s.
Besides, starting at 30% in 1980s, the proportion of older adults
who often reading in their free time leaped moderately to 40% after 10
years. Over the next 10 years, the number of people reading books
plummeted noticeably by 20%, but later this figure jumped enormously
to 60% in the last year. The rate of people who usually go to the theatre
experienced a marked plunge to 30% in the year 1990s. Nevertheless,
the number of people going to the theatre is increasing, so this rate has
taken off significantly to more than 40% until the last year.
