This portrayal may reinforce negative stereotypes about Egyptians and perpetuate a misunderstanding and under-appreciation of the cultural heritage of Middle Eastern countries. Consequently, this has contributed to ongoing conflicts in these regions.
Furthermore, movies and TV shows oversimplify complex historical events and downplay human rights issues. The movie romanticizes slavery and the Civil War while minimizing the brutalities of slavery and the devastation caused by the war.
