The two graphs give data about how many million foreign visitors came to particular countries by month in the year 2010 and by year during the period of 60 years, starting from 1950 and which areas they visited around the globe.
Overall, it is clear that summer months, namely July and August, had the highest number of international tourists. In addition, there was a notable upward trend in the amount of visitors in all the regions, in which Europe took the leading position.
It can be seen that for the inbound tourism by months of 2010, in January the countries welcomed nearly 60 million arrivals from foreigners, after which this figure continued rising significantly until it reached the peak at around 145 million in July. However, from August to the end of the year, the total arrivals plunged dramatically to approximately 45 million higher than its initial value in January and settled to 70 million in December.
In terms of international tourist arrivals by region, in 1950 the number of visitors to 5 recorded areas was quite the same at about 30 million. Europe showed the greatest amount of tourist flew to, rising to just under half of a billion in 2010. The amount of people visiting Asia witnessed a significant growth from 20 million in 1980 to 200 million in 2010, whereas the increase in international arrivals to the Americas was steadier, it had a 50 million rise between 1980 and 2010. Additionally, the Middle East and Africa had also grown over the period, peaking at around 30 million in 2010.
