The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (Co2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
The given line graph compares the average amount of carbon dioxide emitted by a person in four specific countries from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, while in the United Kingdom and Sweden, average CO2 emissions per individual fell, the reverse can be seen in that of Italy and Portugal. In spite of the steady reduction, a UK person emitted more than other areas’.
During the recorded period, although a person in the UK by far emitted the highest amount of carbon dioxide compared with other areas, the figures dropped from roughly 11 in 1967 to below 9 metric tonnes in 2006. Likewise, the amount of CO2 in Sweden registered a fall to approximately 5.5 metric tonnes in 2007, before which there was a hefty 2-metric-ton increase in the first 10 years, from 1967.
Starting at a lower point than the abovementioned regions’ data, standing at around 4 in Italy and 1.6 in Portugal respectively, the average CO2 emissions saw a progressive rise. In 2007 saw Italy’s amount of CO2 emitted taking the lead over Portugal’s, at nearly 8 metric tonnes, meanwhile the increasing rate in Portugal was relatively higher, almost tripling its 1967 figure.
