The bar charts show information on the proportion of Australia's native citizens and migrators living in cities, rural and town from 1995 to 2010.
Overall, in a period of 15 years, the total amount of people living in town and rural areas from two groups of citizens decreased while there was a surge in Australia’s city dwellers, which ranked first of citizens among 3 areas.
Considering native people in Australia, in 1995, the percentage of people living in cities was the highest with nearly 50% before it surpassed 60% in 2010. Despite a rise in city dwellers, the proportion of people living in rural areas dropped from over 30% (1995) to under 20% (2010). The percentage of Australia’s town citizens also decreased slightly in 15 years.
In terms of migrators to Australia, the ratio of people living in cities soared from 60% to 80% in 15 years. However, at the same time, the percentage of rural citizens fell nearly tenfold from 40% to approximately 10%. Moreover, there were slightly fewer people residing in town in 2010 compared to in 1995.
