The two bar chart illustrate how many students from 14 to 16 years old learning the top three foreign languages in English speaking country in two year 1984 and 2007.
Overall, the figures of boys always stood at the highest point in that two year. The number of people learning Frech stood at the top point in over 20 years. Spanish saw an increase in over 20 years. The units are measured at percentages.
As regards to the number of pupil studying languages faced up with a downward trend, it started just under 80 in 1984 before fell down to 70 in 2007. The data of boys began with just under a half in 1984, before dropped to 40 in 2007. Likewise, the amount of girls reduced from a third to over 20 in 2007.
Most of the languages also dealt with a decrease in over 20 years. French began with a half in 1984, before reducing to over 20 in 2007, but it continued to be the popular language that students in English enjoyed to learn. Next, German was 20 in 1984, it went down gradually to just almost 15 in 2007. Last, the figure for Spanish saw a signigicant increase in 2007. It was just a half of 10 in 1984 and climbed up to 10 in over 20 years.
