The bar chart illustrates the percentages of men and women who work in different types of jobs in the UK for the year 2005.
Overall, the majority of men workers occupied a managerial and senior position and skilled trades while the most number of women were in the administrative and secretarial level.
Men workers engaged in the skilled trades were at its highest percentage of 20% compared to women with only a least percentage of over 2%. For personal services, it was an opposite trend. While female workers were under 15%, male workers had only above 3%. It is noticeable that nearly a quarter of the women were employed to render an administrative and secretarial function.
Another visible comparison is that men occupied the highest position in managerial and senior offices and professional at just over 18% and 13% respectively, in contrast, women had the same level of percentage at approximately 11%. Men who were hired as machine operators and laborers has the same level of women who worked in sales and customer service at over 12%.
