The chart shows a percentage of live births by age of mother for UK and non-UK born mothers, 2015
The chart represents the proportion of live births by mothers who were born in UK or non-UK born in 7 different age groups in 2015.
Overall, the proportion of live births was higher for non-UK mothers than that of UK mothers. Also, it is interesting to note that, UK mothers preferred to have a live birth at an early age, whereas non-UK mothers had a live birth at a later age. Around 25 to 29 of age, both mothers experienced the same percentage of live births.
From the age of 30 to 45, non-British mother had more live births than that of British mothers. The highest live births were found at age of 30 to 34, which non-British mother experienced 35% of live births compared to 30% for British mothers. This trend continued in different age groups; 35 to 39 had a higher proportion of live births for non-UK mothers (of 20%) and around 15% for UK mothers, whereas 40 to 44 age groups experienced a live birth of about 5% for non-UK mothers and around 3% for UK mothers.
In opposed to the older age groups, the younger age groups had more proportions of a live birth from British mothers than non-British mothers. Looking in details, under 20 years of British mothers had a live birth of about 5% while non-British mother recorded of around 1%. At the age of 20 to 24, British mother had close to 20% of live births and only 10% were found in non-British mothers. Similar percentage was found in the age of 25 to 39 where both mothers had about 29% of live births.
