The graphs below show the types of music albums purchased by people in Britain according to sex and age.
The bar charts compared the percentage of albums sold in Britain by gender and four different age groups in three types of music.
It is clear from the graphs that males are more likely to buy music albums than females. Additionally, 25-34 age group accounts for the largest proportion of customers in Pop and Rock Music, while people aged 45 or more tend to love Classical Music the most.
As regard to customers' genders, 27% of Rock Music customers are males, compared to approximately 20% of females. At the same time, the rates for Pop Music are slightly lower, at 21% of males and 13% of females. By contrast, only 9% of male buyers choose Classical Music, while this rate for female customers is only around 6%.
For age groups' figures, the firgures for Pop and Rock Music are quite similar, with the main buyers are the 16-24 age group and the 25-34 age group with the proportions are all around 30% each. Meanwhile, less than 10% of people aged 45 and over choose to purchase Pop or Rock Music. By contrast, 25-34 age group and 45+ age group are more likely to buy Classical albums, at 15% and 20% respectively.
