The presented charts show data on percentages of pop, rock and classical music albums purchased in Britain by gender and age. As seen, pop is the most popular music type among the three categories, whilst Classical was the least fancied, since it has the lowest number of purchasers.
A general trend in all the charts is that the percent of male buyers is larger than the one of females. In pop and rock, the people who purchased albums were predominantly of age 25-34 and not falling far behind were customers from 16-24 years old. Another tendency in the two most trendy genres is that the listeners over the age of 45 were less than 10 percent, and listeners form age of 33-44 were also less than 20 percent, which shows that pop music and rock music are more fashionable with the younger generations. This statement, however, dose not hold true for classical category. There the audience of 45+ were well ahead of all the age groups except for the one of 25-34.
