The graph provided compares the amount of electricity consumed throughout a day in winter to that in summer, while the pie chart reveals information on the percentage of the different electric use in each England home.
Overall, it is clearly shown that England demand for electricity is much higher in winter than that in summer and it is mostly used for heating.
As can be seen from the line graph that the amount of electricity used in a winter day fluctuates dramatically, ranging from over 30,000 to nearly 50,000 units. A summer day, however, see a lower and slighter fluctuation, being around 20,000 units.
It is interesting to note that both in winter and summer, the demand for electricity bottoms up before 9.00 AM, namely just over 30,000 and approximately 15,000 units respectively. Then the latter is followed by a hitting peak of 20,000 units at 2.00 PM, in contrast to a steady rise in the former. Only until 10.00 PM do the electricity consumption in winter reach its highest point, at nearly 50,000, and the similar happens in a summer day with lower figure, stood at 20,000.
From the data in the pie chart, the majority of electricity is used for heating rooms and water, accounted for more than a half of the total share. The second popular use of electricity (17,5%) is for ovens, kettles and washing machines. The proportions of electricity consumed by lighting, TV and radio, as well as that by vacuum cleaners, food mixers and electric tools are equally the same, being 15% each.
