The reading and the lecture discussing about the Humpback whale migration factors but in very contrast ways.
Firstly, the reading says that it's brain is very complex structure like a human being that helps them to use their cognitive abilities to act like very intelligent ways. This, aid them to navigate to the long distance by using stars as a navigation tool. No other animals, have this capability. But, the lecturer refutes this point by saying that there is no connection between the intelligent and the navigation and he gave on example for that, that's duck also have same intelligent but it never used for their navigation purposes.
Secondly, reading suggests that it uses the straight line for the navigation because unlike other land animals which uses the landmark for traveling, it doesn't have any of it, and, it use the line to star and travel to the long distances. Again, speaker opposes this idea by stating that it has bio-magnetic which helps them to align with earth magnetic field and there is no connection between this lines and their navigation ability by using the night stars.
Thirdly, reading claims that spy-hoping, meaning ability to watch the star while it floats head inside the water for few minutes, that makes them use to find the star position. Still, the professor argues this view by explaining that spy-hoping doesn't do anything with navigation strategists and it uses this mechanism after the day when it saw the stars. And, it is purely speculation and not real one.
