The lecture and the reading passage both discuss that Ethanol fuel, made from plants like corn, and some people claims it became alternative to gasoline in the United States. On one hand, the reading states that ethanol is not a good replacement for gasoline for several reasons. On the other hand, the lecture refutes that by saying it is a good alternative, and unconvincing reasons.
To begin with, the reading states that increased use of ethanol will produce a lot of carbon dioxide, and will increase the global warming. However, the lecture argues that by saying that ethanol made from plant corns and this plant absorb carbon dioxide as a step of long process. And that lead to decrease it in the atmosphere.
Second, the reading makes argument by production of ethanol that lead to decrease amount of plants available for fuel or for animals. Conversely, the lecture refutes this claims by saying that producing ethanol come from parts pf plants contain cellulose and these parts are not favor for animals feeding.
Lastly, the reading claims that the ethanol price will never compete with gasoline. The lecture counter this by pointing out that increase production of ethanol will decrease the price of it, and will become available all the time. And the professor states that ethanol production 3 times the gasoline production that will drop the price of it to %30.
