Task 1
The bar chart compares the time spent by people in Finland on different phone calls over the nine years of period from 1995 to 2004.
It is clear from the chart that people spent the highest amount of time on local- land line, rising from 12000 min in 1995 to just under 17000 min in 2000. After peaking at 17000 following year it had dropped back to the 1995 figure in 20004.
The time spent on mobile phones had increased dramatically from about 250 min in 1995 and to just above 9000 in 2004. The rise was particularly noticeable between 2000 and 2004, during which the figure had tripled.
Similarly, there was an upward trend in the time spent on national and international-land line over the period of nine years. However, that rise was not as dramatic as mobile phones. In fact, the figure for this type of phone calls only increased by about 4500 min while mobile phone increased by about 9000 min at the end of the period.
In conclusion, despite the fact that local-land line was still the most popular in 2004, the gap between three categories had narrowed down considerably over the last five years of period.
