Essay topics:

While some leaders in government, sports, industry, and other areas attribute their success to a well-developed sense of competition, a society can better prepare its young people for leadership by instilling in them a sense of cooperation.

As per the statement, young people of particular nation can get the leadership quality in various fields by cooperation rather than by competition. At some extent, I agree with the statement considering world would be better off with democracy rather than dictatorship. Although, I would not completely ignore the competition parameter from the statement. Competition in various fields will be helpful in better leadership.

Considering the various problems of the world which we are facing, leadership with cooperation will play catalyst factor to tackle those problems. For example, the world is experiencing severe problems like global warming, dear-cutting rain forests, unemployment, hunger etc. Now, this problems can't be solved by one nation or one society. Everyone should take part and provide the support to handle these unforeseen situation rather than dealing by themselves. By cooperating with other nations' leader, new and innovative solutions can come up.

In similar way, if we take the field related to industry, decision is taken by the stalwarts of industry but they are not alone in this decision. They have their board meeting and after considering everyone's opinion, the final decision is getting released. No doubt within the industry, there are many organizations who are competing with each other to become best in the market. Competition has its own advantage in particular field. By feeling the competition in the market only, leaders will understand the gravity of their organization's position in the market.

Imagine a world without support of each other? It can lead to chaos among themselves. There are various part of world which are suffering from hideous conditions due to no cooperation among different political parties. For example, Syria, where two extreme groups are not willing to provide any kind of support to each other, and due to this they are not coming to truce. On the other hand, North Korea and South Korea are trying to make peace after so many decades. This peace will definitely help the poor nation to advance.

In general, it is completely extreme statement from the speaker. Cooperation should not be taken as granted but that does not mean competition is not the parameter one should be ignoring it. Cooperation among each other will help to handle the world's problem or industry level problems very effectively. On the other hand, competition will help to understand the nation's values or organization values among the world or industry level respectively.
