IELTS task 1
The line graph illustrates and compares the population of different kinds of turtles in India over thirty two years of period from 1980 to 2012.
It is clear from the chart that, between 1980 and 1988, the population of all tour different types of turtles fluctuated at around 90- 110. Over the next nine years of period, the above trend continued only in Green Turtle and all species populations while figures for Leatherback and Olive Ridley Turtles indicate gradual decline and rise respectively. In fact, Olive Ridley Turtles population increased steadily by about 30 whereas Leatherback population declined by the same amount by 1887.
Between 1887 and 2012, the downward trend of Leatherback Turtles population continued though there were few rises in 2000 and 2004 and Olive Ridley Turtles population fluctuated at around 140 and 130.
Despite there was a slight increase in Green Turtle population from 90 in 1996 to 100 in 1999, it reduced steadily to just above 80 in 2000 and remained constant over the next towel years of period.
The all species population fluctuated around 100- 110 between 1997 and 110 and it also leveled off at about 100 over the last five years of period.
As an overall, there was a moderate growth in Olive Ridley Turtles population whereas Leatherback Turtles population declined steadily. Figures for Green Turtle and all species populations remained constant though there were few fluctuations.
