The given charts shows the effect of multiple factors in making agricultural land less productive in theree different regions i.e North America, Europe and Oceana during 1990's.
It is evident from pie chart that worldwide most common reported cause of land degradation is overgrazing that comprises of 35% of all followed closely by deforestation and overcultivation that constituted 30% and 28% respectively.Other causes which are not clearly mentioned comprised of only 7% of all causes.
When we talk about percentage of degraded land,Europe shows the highest percentage that has lost production i.e 23% followed by oceana and North America i.e 13% and 5% respectively.
Even though the most common cause of less productivity of land was overgrazing,it was only seen in case of Oceana where it was responsible for 11.3% of land.
It was seen that in cases of europe and North America the most common causes of loss of productivity were deforestation and decultivation respectively. Where as, only in case of oceana overgrazing constituted the most common cause i.e 1.3%
So it can be concluded that in Europe where land degradation is a major issue deforestation is its major culprit and needs special attention to cut down on decultivated land.
