The bar chart illustrates the data on the age group in Iceland from 1990 to 2020. Overall, the 25-54 aged group has the most significant number and increased dramatically, while almost the remaining ancient group had a decreased trend.
In the last decade of 19 century, the 25-54 age group reached more than 30% and became higher than any group. This figure continued to have an upward trend to 2020 with nearly half of the population in Iceland. Over 10% was for more than 65 years old age group, the proportion of those aged 65 and over fluctuated in each decade and stayed at 15% in 2020.
The opposite trend can be seen in people aged 55 to 64, this group went down from 14% in 1990 to 10% in 2020. The 15 - 24 age group dropped rapidly by more than half to nearly only 8% after 30 years. The youngest group stayed at the second highest with 1 in 4 percent. However, in 2020 it plummeted sharply to 18% but still remain at that level.
