The bar chart provides information on the total import of seafood in US in dollar amount in the years between 2002 and 2022 and also predicted the amount that will be imported in 2032. The pie chart gives further classification on the origin of seafood imports in the year 2022.
Overall, there is an increasing trend in the seafood import amount in US frim the year 2002 to 2022, with the highest import in 2022. Moreover, China and Thailand are the main sources of seafood for US.
To begin, at the beginning of the time period, seafood of approximately 7 billion dollars was imported to US. And over the period of next 20 years, the import amount experienced a steady growth. The seafood import amount rose to approximately 10 billion dollars in 2012 and in the next decade, the amount became double. Although the seafood imports experience a constant growth over the period of 20 years, the prediction for seafood import amount in US for the year 2032 shows that, the amount will experience a decline and fall to 17 billion dollars decreasing by approximately 3 billion dollars.
On the other hand, in 2022 nearly half of the seafood imported to US originated from China and Thailand. After China and Thailand, Canada was the third highest contributor of the seafood imports , contributing about 16% of the total seafood imports to US. Indonesia, Vietnam and Equador accounts for 9% , 8% and 7% of the total seafood imports respectively, while the rest 9% has been imported from other countries.
