In 1971, no-car households experienced the highest proportion, making up approximately 50%, followed by 1-car households at 35%. The lowest percentage was recorded for households with more than two cars, contributing to around 25%, which was the same in 1991. In 1981, The proportion of no-car households was 40%, compared to 1-car households at around 42% while households with more than 2 cars saw a slightly higher proportion in 1971, accounting for around 35%.
In 1991, No-car households made up around 35% of all types of households, whereas that figure for 1-car households was higher, at approximately 40%. It was observed that households having more than two cars in 1991 and 1971 accounted for the same proportion, both being at 25%. The number of no-car households in 2001 was the lowest, at only 25% while that for 1-car households was the highest throughout the period, with more than 50% of households. Notably, the proportions of households with more than 2 cars in 2001 and household having only 1 car were the same, contributing to 35%.
