The bar chart gives information about the different modes of transport used to travel to and from work in one European city in 1960, 1980 and 2000.
Overall, it is noticeable that the mainstream of commuters using car witnessed a remarkable increase, while the opposite was true for that of people using other means of transport.
In the first two years, the figure for both trains and cars experienced a significant increase with approximate 1.5 and 4 times as much respectively, whilst the proportion of the tube and bus declined sharply by 6% for the former and 11% for the latter.
At the final of the period, at 37%, the car was more popular than other means of transport and it also saw a considerable rise of 10%. Besides the car, the percentage of tube also went up slightly from 21% to 25%. The opposite with the trend of both car and tube, the bus and train witnessed a downward tendency. While the train dropped minimally by 5%, the bus descended dramatically by 12%.
