Overall, the sales of online games, mobile phone games, and handheld games increased for the period. However, the sales of console games declined. Handheld games were the most popular class among all.
In 2000, the sales of the handheld game were slightly lower than $12 billion, which roused to around $18 billion in the last year. Online games came into the picture in 2001 with around $2 billion sales and ended up five times to $10 billion in 2006. A similar growth for mobile phone games is seen, which came in 2002 with around $2.5 billion equal to the sale of online games. However, it ended up at $7 billion that is $3 billion less than the online games.
Console games saw a decrease in sales with time. It started at around $6 billion in 2000 and ended up at $3 billion, which is the least in 2006.
