The chart and graph below give information about participants who have entered the Olympics since it began.
From an overall perspective, it is evident that there has been a remarkable increase in Olympic participants since it began. In addition, the number of female contestants was always lower than that of men; however, the two charts also show female athletes experienced a surge over the years.
Regarding the bar chart, it can be seen that in 1924, the figure for male entrants was far higher than women’s, at exactly 3,000 and about 100 participants, respectively. Both of the two genders grew, but by 2012, there had been a mushrooming rise in the number of female contestants, peaking at approximately 4,600.
Looking at the line graph, overall, the quantity of Olympic athletes increased rapidly throughout the years shown. In 1924, the figure for entrants who took part in the Olympics was just over 3,000. And by 2012, this number had reached a record high with roughly 11,000 contestants.
