The chart below gives information about the age of women in Australia when they give birth to their first child in 1966, 1986 and 2006

The bar chart displays the information about the age of women in Australia at the time their first child was born in 1996, 1986 and 2006. Each year is divided into 6 groups by age.
In 1996, most of women had their first child when they were from 20 to 24 years old, which taken two third of the total - 66%. That proportion quickly decreased to 40% in 1986. However, it slightly grew by 5% to 45% in 2006 calculation. The "19 and under" group had a large proportion in 1966 but rapidly drop from 35% to 20% in 1986. Later, in 2006 it continuously fell to 10%, which shows that women didn't want to give their birth to their first child soon. The percentage of women who wanted to born their first child in 40 years old or more is the smallest of all group which was always under or equal 5% for 40 years from 1966 to 2006. The age that women nowadays want to have a first baby is from 25 to 30 years old. Its percentage have been rise from 40% in 1966 to 55% in 1986. This proportion decreases by 5% compare to 1986 percentage in 2006. Women who was from 30 years old to 34 years old take the biggest rate when they had their first off-spring. It slowly claimed from 15% in 1966 to 20% in 1986 and sharply jumped to 55% in 2006, nearly 3 times compare to 20 years before. The rate of first birth givers aged between 34 and 39 years old saw go up.
Overall, through the bar chart above, Australian women tend to give birth to their first child more lately by the time. The percentage of each year seem to be right-forward which mean the older women are the more they want to have the first kid
