The chart below gives information about the growth of urban population in certain parts of the world including the prediction of the future.

The provided chart represents the data about urban sprawl in different parts of the world in year 1950 and 2000 with an estimation in 2030.

As can be observed, in 1950, Latin America was the most populated region with almost half of the total population. It was followed by Asia with 18% urban population while Africa was the least continent with one tenth of the total population which was living in cities. As the time passed, in 2000, there was a sudden incline in the urban population of Latin America and it reached up to 70% whereas the population living in cities recorded at same proportion (40%) in Africa and Asia in the same year.

It is estimated that in 2030, all three continents will have large proportion of people living in cities. Latin America will be lead with 70 percent of total urban population while Asia and Africa will also show significant increase in the proportion of urban population and will be recorded at 60% and 50% respectively. However, the population living in cities in the whole world will be doubled in 2030 as compared to 1950.

Overall, there will be a noticeable change in the urban sprawl inwhich Latin America will be the leading reason with the high proportion of urban population in an estimated year.
