The chart below gives information about the percentage of the adult population who were overweight in four different countries in 1980, 1990, and 2000.
This bar chart shows the propotion of obese adults in four different regions in 1980, 1990 and 2000.
One noticeable feature of the chart is that the rates of overweight citizens in the USA always had the highest percentage. By contrast, Japan had the lowest proportion of gross people in all three given years. In 1980, just under 15% of citizens in these countries were fatty. The figure for Finland and Australia were low, at about 6% and 8% respectively. Over the period of twenty years later, these figures saw significant increses, the propotion of Finnish had almost doubled while this of Australians nearly tripled, reaching approximately 23%. Additionally, focusing on the distribution of overweight adults in America, it is clear that USA increased from 15% in 1980 to 30% in 2000.
Overall, it can be concluded that the percentage of overweight adults was higher and higher in each year and the rate of rise was greater in Australia and America.
