The chart below gives information about the percentage of the adult population who were overweight in four different countries in 1980, 1990 and 2000.
The bar chart compares the proportion of obese youngsters in four distinct nations in three years 1980, 1990 and 2000.
Overall, it is evident from the chart given that there was an upward trend in the ratio of overweight adults in all countries over the time period. Besides, whereas the rate of adults in the USA who were obese was by far the largest, that of their counterpart in Japan was considerably smaller.

However, the percentage of Finland and Australia obese younger generation were half of that in America. After a decade, the figure for Japan adults remained relatively stable, while a substantial rise was observed in the proportion of those American adults sufferred obesity, at 23 per cent. On the other hand, the figures for the remaining countries rose marginally by 2 to 4 per cent.
In the last stage, the rate of obese adults in the USA continued to increase dramatically by 8 per cent. Similarly, Astralian and Finland overweight adult rates also went up significantly to 21 and 13 per cent, respectively. That of Japanese younger gerneration, in contrast, witnessed a mere increase by 1 per cent to solely 3 per cent.
