The bar chart highlighted the proportion of the elderly population in 1980, 2000 and the estimated percentage by 2030 in three countries, namely Canada, Germany, and the UK.
A glance at the period shown, there was an upward trend in the number of older people during the time. While Canada is predicted to have the fastest growth in the figure of old ages, Britain will be the slowest of the three.
In 1980, the proportion of people aged 65 and over in Canada, Germany and the UK accounted for 15%, 13% and 10% respectively. Twenty years later, Germany, as well as Canada both, witnessed an increase of 5 more percent whereas the UK rose just slightly 2%, which was equal to Canada. By 2030, Germany, with accounting for 25% of the population, will still have the utmost growth of the elderly. Canadian population, following, will rocket to nearly 23% and overtake Britain, which is expected to attain17% of older people.
Overall, Germany forecasts to have the most elderly and the UK will retain the least of all.
