the chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995 to 2002.

The chart gives information about the amount of time that people in the UK spending on three different kinds of telephone calls, from 1995 to 2002.

Overall, while local-fixed lines tended to experience a decline during the last three years researched, national and international-fixed lines, as well as mobiles, increased moderately each year.

In 1995, domestic-fixed lines accounted for over 70 billion minutes, which were nearly twice higher than that of national and worlwide-fixed lines. In comparison, mobiles were only responsible for over one-twentieth of the total number of telephone calls. After the following four years, local lines reached its peak, at about 90 billion minutes, which remained a big gap compared to both other kinds of telephone calls, standing at about nearly 50 billion and 9 billion respectively.

From this time onwards, domestic lines inclined to decrease year by year, while the rest two categories showed an opposite trend. In 2002, the difference between these three telephone calls narrowed down, but the local lines were still the highest, about 70 billion. National and internation-fixed lines increased slightly, only about 1 to 5 billion per year while mobiles experienced a considerable rise in number, ranging from 10 to 17 billion minutes each year, except the last year in the given period.
