The given picture illustrates the time that the British spent on different kinds of telephone calls, namely local-fixed line, national and international-fixed line, and mobiles over 8-year period, starting from 1995.
Overall, local-fixed line calls always was the most popular type of all categories examined throughout the period. Besides, there was a substantial upward trend in national and international-fixed line dialing.
First of all, local-fixed line dialing fluctuated around 70 billion minutes that accounted for the first place during the examined span. This category experienced a moderate increase and reached the highest peak at 90 billion minutes in 1999. After that, local-fixed line calling time dropped gradually to 2002.
On the other hand, national and international-fixed line and mobile calls witnessed a steady surge between 1995 to 2002. The national and international-fixed calling grew each year and reached 61 billion in 2002 from the initial figure of 38 billion minutes. Besides, cell phones call had a significant rise by 40 billion minutes in only 7 years from about 5 billion minutes in 1995. Thank to its growth, mobiles calls showed its increasing popularity.
