Essay topics:

The chart below shows the waste disposal in 1 European country in four years 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

The bar chart illustrates the average amount of garbage disposal in a European country in terms of the landfill, burning and dumping at sea in a period from 2005 to 2008.
Overall, the amount of rubbish was buried decreased steadily during the whole period. In contrast, there was an upward trend in the figure for waste disposal by burning.
In 2005, 1800 million tons of waste went into landfill. This number declined to 1200 million tons in the next year and continued to fall until 2008 when the amount was just one-third of the figure for 2005. Although landfill was the most prevalent trash disposal way until 2007, the amount of waste burned exceeded the figure for rubbish disposal by landfill in 2008.
While only about 500 million tons of garbage was incinerated in 2005, this number went up stably over the years and reached a peak of around 900 million tones at the end of the period. However, dumping at sea witnessed a fluctuation in the amount of waste removed in the period. From 600 million tons in 2005, this figure rose to over 600 million tons in the following year and then decreased steadily to around 550 million tons in 2008.
