The chart gives information about the number of international students who applied to study in a European university from 4 different countries between 2004 to 2008.
Looking from an overall perspective, the figure of China and Japan both showed a dramatic decline, while that of the USA and Russia recorded some negligible changes throughout the time frame.
As the chart portrays, China was the origin of most abroad candidates with precisely 300000 students in 2004, this figure dropped significantly in those last years, before reaching 150000.
Meanwhile, in 2004, approximately 140000 applicants came from America, which rose initially till 2006, followed an unnoticeable upward and finally equaled with China.
On the other hand, this European university received more than 5000 pupils from Japan in 2004. From that to 2007, Japan's number showed a jump by 2000-3000. However, it plunged its ratio to less than 4000 in the last years of the research. In addition, no remarkable variation was seen in the number of Russia owing to hovering around 2500 students.
